What is the online stopwatch?

This online stopwatch runs directly in your browser and measures elapsed time with a clear display. It tracks hours, minutes, seconds, and milliseconds so you can time anything from short drills to long sessions.

Use laps (split times) to capture segments without stopping the total time. If you’d rather count down, use the online timer; if you need a reminder at a specific time of day, use the online alarm clock.

How do I use the online stopwatch?

  • Start / pause the stopwatch with the Start button (or Space).
  • Record a split with Lap while the total time keeps running.
  • Reset back to 00:00:00 when paused so you can start a fresh run.

The lap table includes each lap time, the cumulative elapsed time, and the local timestamp when you recorded the lap. Your lap data is saved in your browser, and you can export it as a CSV file for spreadsheets.

Stopwatch settings

Use settings and display controls to tailor the stopwatch:

  • Show or hide milliseconds.
  • Export your lap table as CSV, or clear it to start fresh.
  • Use full-screen mode (and zoom controls) for visibility at a distance.
  • Your preferences are stored locally in your browser.

What is the online stopwatch used for?

A stopwatch is useful whenever you need a simple, on-screen timer:

  • Timing practice questions in an exam or quiz
  • Tracking personal bests, reps, and intervals in workouts
  • Timing a presentation, speech, or classroom activity
  • Logging time spent on a task or project

In full-screen mode, the digits are easy to read from across a room. If you want to show the current time instead, try the online clock.
